2lb POTATOES CUT INTO THIN SLICES
450ml MILK
15g BUTTER
SALT & PEPPER
LARGE PINCH OF GRATED NUTMEG
1 ONION CHOPPED & LIGHTLY FRIED
1 GARLIC CLOVE HALVED
100g GRATED CHEDDAR CHEESE

Lightly butter a shallow baking dish.
Peel and cut the potatoes into thin slices
Pre heat the oven to Gas 7, 220˚C, 425˚F

Put the potatoes, nutmeg and milk in a pan
Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 to 15mins until tender.

Rub the cut sides of the garlic hard against the inside of the baking dish, transfer the potatoes, cooked onions and about half the liquid to the dish, sprinkle the grated cheese over the top

Bake for about 20mins or until the cheese melts and the top is a golden brown.
